Unifi Access points on a intranet with no gateway : Access Points turning radios off

So, you just setup a new UniFi access point on your INTRANET, it powers up, broadcasts the SID, and then, turns off the radios. You’ve updated firmware, controller software, etc with no luck. Well, maybe you have this gem of a setting enabled..

So this setting looks like its designed to keep an eye on your gateway or another IP to make sure if its available.  If it goes offline – all your AP radios turn off.  Ugh..
